Hello, fellow citizens of Hyderabad. This is the official mukt.in weblog and I, Shriphani Palakodety, am the “blog-guy”. In our first post, I on behalf of mukt.in, am going to answer a few questions.
What is mukt.in?
mukt.in is an ad-hoc assembly, aimed at facilitating Open Source Learning. It will feature discussions, speeches, presentations, and intense interactions.
Ah, so you are another of those FOSS events.
No, we are not. mukt.in is not a social hangout for members of the open source community who use or create open source software on a regular basis. The event is a workshop that aims to introduce open source software to those who have no idea about it.
Why did you pick such a location. Why not something like <insert name of elite college> ?
mukt.in aims to bring complete beginners to the open source world. Our choice was made keeping our goals in mind.
I am an activist and I want to promote open source big time.
Although we welcome one and all, we do not encourage any form of activism. One of the most appreciable features of all those involved in the open source world is respect for the propreitary world.
How much do I have to pay to attend/Where do I register to attend ?
You don’t need to pay or register to attend. We however won’t mind a donation.
